Internship

An Internship is a mandatory aspect of the Hertie School's Master of Public Policy (MPP).  It gives you the opportunity to apply the theory you are learning in class, while gaining professional experience and making contacts for the future.

It is essential that you keep the Career Services updated during the search, so that we can assist you in making contacts and keep track of the applications that are going out.  As a student at the Hertie School, you can benefit from the partner and non-partner institution relationships that the school has developed.  While the Career Services office is happy to facilitate the internship process, students are expected to be proactive.

Be sure to start thinking about the internship upon your arrival at the Hertie School, and start looking for opportunities in October and November for the following summer.  The earlier you start, the better chance you have of organizing an internship relevant to your academic and professional interests.

All internships are a minimum of 6 weeks long, but students are encouraged to take advantage of the full summer break (end-May to end-August), in order to gain the maximum experience.  At the end of each internship, a report must be submitted.
