Grasp a Unique Opportunity
In addition to the curriculum, selected MPP students are offered the opportunity to participate in the Professional Year programme between their first and second year of study. An ideal supplement to the theoretical segment of the MPP, the Professional Year gives participating students valuable real-world working experience and often influences participants' study focus in their second year of study.
The Hertie School currently has Professional Year programmes in place in Germany with the Federal Chancellery; the Federal Ministry of Health; the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs; the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety; the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth; and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ). Similar agreements with more federal ministries and other organisations are currently in the process of implementation.
Students can apply to the study abroad programmes once they have begun their studies at the Hertie School, i.e. at the end of the first semester. Please take note that students who participate in the Professional Year programme or take a leave of absence for other reasons will have to pay the tuition which is valid for the student body they join in their second year of study.
