Schlossplatz³ is the student magazine of the Hertie School of Governance. Initiated by the first MPP class, Schlossplatz³ takes up current issues of modern governance and discusses them from the perspectives of the public, private and civil society sector. The magazine appears biannually and contains articles and interviews from policy-makers, scholars and students on topics of modern governance.
The magazine reflects upon the interdependence of current policy issues. Most of today's economic, political and societal challenges ask for integrative solutions resulting from the interplay of the public and the private sectors as well as civil society. If we are to understand and solve the questions of our time, we have to be mindful of the role of these actors - hence the "3" ("to the power of three") in the title. None of the three actors is capable of tackling present or future challenges on its own. We believe that it is crucial to unite all three sectors in finding sustainable solutions to common problems. Schlossplatz³ provides a forum for debate for decision-makers and leaders from the academic and professional realm to exchange ideas, expertise and opinions.
Furthermore, Schlossplatz³ is a student magazine that informs its readers about student life at the Hertie School of Governance: Who are we, the students? What are we striving for? Most of us have already collected experience in a variety of professional settings, which they can use to contribute to the magazine. Each issue will present some articles by students but as well as a collection of impressions directly related to events in Berlin and at the Hertie School of Governance.

Crisis as an omnipresent part of our daily lives has become engrained in our mindsets. We should, however, not resort to apathy, but instead attempt to differentiate between those issues sold to us as crises. The second issue of Schlossplatz³ tackles a complex concept: Security. The Master of Public Policy Programme at the Hertie School of Governance has successfully ended its first year. The second year, with an intake of 50 new students, has been commenced, therewith taking the "project HSoG" to new levels. As a rather young institution the HSoG had and has to overcome governance challenges implied in creating a new institution.
