
Following a framework agreement with the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), 30 officials from German Federal Ministries participated in the programme since 2008.
The EMPM is a joint degree of the Hertie School of Governance and the University of Potsdam. Several experts of the university's Potsdam Centre for Politics and Management (PCPM) are members of the EMPM faculty. The PCPM develops basic and advanced study programmes, while supporting public and private clients with research and consulting projects in the field of governance and the modernisation of government and administration.
UniBe is a comprehensive Swiss university with a full range of Bachelor, Master and PhD degree programmes, also offering Executive programmes to students in various fields of study. The Center of Competence for Public Management (CCPM) at UniBE provides Master as well as Certificate of Advanced Studies in Public Administration as core products. The Hertie School concluded a cooperation agreement with the University of Bern in 2011, making this the newest exchange programme within the EMPM.
A cooperation agreement with Copenhagen Business School (CBS) allows EMPM students to visit courses of the Master of Public Governance (MPG) programme in Denmark and vice versa. The MPG degree is an accredited executive master degree programme at CBS which is run by CBS and the University of Copenhagen in a joint consortium.
In order to enhance exchange between professionals of all sectors, a cooperation agreement was signed between the more public oriented Hertie School and the more business oriented ESCP Europe. Now, EMPM students can visit business and leadership courses of the European Executive MBA programme - which was ranked 1st in the Financial Times' 2010 EMPM ranking - on all ESCP Europe's campuses (Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid and Turin), and ESCP Europe students can visit governance and public management courses of the EMPM programme.
KPMG and the Public Governance Institute are jointly sponsoring this Master's programme by funding a professorship in Public and Financial Management. As one of the world's leading accounting and advisory firms, KPMG founded the Institute for Public Governance in 2005 in order to actively promote the modernisation of the public sector and the discussion of governance in public enterprises.
The Centre for Social Investment is a central academic institute of the University of Heidelberg cooperating with the economics, social science, law and theological faculties. Its mission is to improve the theoretical and practical understanding of social investment through research, teaching, networking and consulting. In 2010, the Hertie School and the CSI establised an exchange programme which allows EMPM students to visit courses of the CSI Master Programme "Nonprofit Management & Governance" and vice versa.
