The DAAD "Public Policy and Good Governance" (PPGG) scholarship includes a living cost stipend from the DAAD (please check the DAAD website for details) and a full tuition waiver from the Hertie School of Governance.
The Hertie School of Governance is an independent institution from the DAAD. When applying for a DAAD-PPGG scholarship, it is necessary to submit an application to both institutions. The DAAD is the body that manages the scholarships, and should be contacted directly to inquire about scholarship issues.
After applying for the DAAD-PPGG scholarship directly at the local DAAD office, interested applicants must apply separately for admission to the Master of Public Policy (MPP) Programme at the Hertie School of Governance.
The application process for the MPP programme at the Hertie School of Governance starting in September 2012 is now open for DAAD-PPGG candidates only. (The general application period will open 15 October 2011 for all other candidates.) Please find the application here.
The DAAD office will send the Hertie School files of all applicants who have named the MPP program as a "Preferred University". In the Fall (October/November) 2011, the Hertie School will then select - together with DAAD representatives - up to five fellows for the program. These PPGG-fellows will receive living cost stipends from the DAAD and full tuition waivers from the Hertie School.
The DAAD deadline for applications is at the end of July (please check with your local DAAD office as specific dates may vary). In view of this deadline, we strongly recommend that DAAD-PPGG candidates submit their application to the Hertie School by mid-September at the latest. This will help us make a comprehensive evaluation of your application during the selection process which will be coordinated between the Hertie School and the DAAD PPGG team.
If you are not selected as a fellow for the PPGG program, you are still eligible for regular entry in the MPP programme at the Hertie School. You will also be eligible for financial assistance from the Hertie School. Decisions regarding Hertie School financial assistance will be made in Spring (February/March 2012.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about the application process for the MPP program. For further information or questions regarding the DAAD-PPGG scholarship, please contact your DAAD regional office or visit the respective DAAD website.
