Arntraud  Hartmann

Arntraud Hartmann held numerous Senior Management Positions with the World Bank, such as Director for Southeast European countries and Senior Advisor to the Operations and Policy Department. She was the first Chief of Mission for the World Bank in Romania (1991-1996). She also worked as Senior Research Fellow with the UNICEF Innocenti Center  and was a Senior Advisor to the World Commission on the Social Dimensions of Globalization. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins University, Bologna Center, Italy.  She is a regular member of the Quality Review Process of IFAD and works as independent consultant for the IMF, the World Bank, IFAD and the GTZ.  She conducts research on scaling up of development programs as part of a Research Program on Aid Effectiveness conducted by the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, and regularly publishes jointly with Johannes Linn on this subject. She holds degrees in law, economics and international relations from Hamburg University, Johns Hopkins University and American University, Washington, DC. and Diplomas from the German Development Institute and Harvard University.
