“Exzellenz-Initiative“ | Hertie School part of new interdisciplinary Berlin School of Integrative Oncology (BSIO)

The Free University of Berlin and Charité Medial School have invited the Hertie School to contribute to the establishment of the Berlin School of Integrative Oncology (BSIO). Funded by the “Exzellenz-Initiative“, BSIO is to develop comprehensive approaches to the prevention and treatment of cancer.

Hertie School Professors Helmut K. Anheier and Klaus Hurrelmann will join forces with researchers, radiologists, surgeons, oncologists, haematologists, biochemists, geneticists as well as social scientists to come to a better understanding of cancer in all its medical and social complexity; and improve how it is diagnosed and treated. As part of this international, interdiscplinary project, the Hertie School´s  focus is on governance-related themes such as the financing and management of medical progress and the wider public health implications of integrative oncology treatments.
