Berlin, 22 May 2012 – The Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) has added the Hertie School of Governance to its international network of leading Public Policy Schools. The four founding members of the network, the School for International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University, New York, London School of Economics and Political Science, Science Po Paris und Lee Kuan Yew School, National University of Singapore, arrived at this decision during their 2012 executive meeting.
The network was established in 2006 with the mission of addressing the most pressing public policy challenges of the 21st century and to have policy impact. GPPN’s mission is to be influential in public policy education and training; and innovative in teaching and research. Accordingly the network focuses their efforts on the ongoing development of study programmes, exchange opportunities, joint research- and publication projects as well as an annual conference for GPPN Professors and students that focuses on and promotes the activities of the Network.
“For the Hertie School, an institution that is yet to turn ten, the inclusion in the Global Public Policy Network is a great honour and simultaneously an affirmation of the course we are on. We look forward to giving the GPPN’s work in the fields of governance research, the development of new teaching methods and Executive Education a global impulse through the Network,” said Helmut K. Anheier, Dean of the Hertie School.
Hertie School Students have, for a number of years, had the opportunity to complete their Master in Public Policy as a Dual Degree at one of the Schools in the GPPN. In the future the relationships between Berlin, New York, London, Paris and Sinapore will become even closer. In addition to the Hertie School the GPPN also added the Graduate School of Public Policy (GraSPP), University of Tokyo and the Brazilian Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV-EAESP) as new members to the Network. The next GPPN Conference will be hosted in Singapore from 30 November to 3 December 2012.
