Hertie School Professor Andrea Römmele appointed as Fulbright Distinguished Chair
Berlin, 13. February 2012 – Andrea Römmele, Professor for Communication in Politics and Civil Society at the Hertie School of Governance, has been appointed as „Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Modern German Studies 2012/13“ at the University of California in Santa Barbara (UCSB). The Germany-wide call for applications for this internationally acclaimed position, targeted the subject fields, history, political science, sociology and international studies. This is the second time that a Hertie School faculty member has been honoured with this title: In 2006/07 Henrik Enderlein, Hertie School Associate Dean and Professor of Political Economy, was the Fulbright Distinguished Chair at Duke University.
The Fullbright Commission has with the “Fulbright Distinguished Chairs for German Studies” been supporting German and European-focused research and teaching at American universities since 1996 and in so doing strengthened interdisciplinary German Studies. Professor Römmele will teach and research in the Department of Political Science at USCB from September 2012 to March 2013; and initiate various exchange activities with the University of California. Römmele, a leading election expert, will also report on the American elections various German media outlets during her time in California.
