Katie Redmond holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Italian from the University of Denver, USA. She spent one year living in Italy studying sociology at the University of Bologna as an undergraduate. Katie worked for more than 3 years in Washington, DC as a professional criminal defence investigator as member of the top public defence agency in the US. At the Hertie School, Katie studied international affairs with a concentration in security and sustainability. During her studies Katie had the opportunity to assist a Hertie EMPA alumnus in producing policy reports for UN Women on the effects of climate disasters on women and girls in Latin America and the Caribbean.
