Reminder: Apply for the Hertie School’s MPP & MIA scholarships by 1 May

We're still accepting applications for the International Security Policy and Digital Governance Scholarships.

The 1 May application deadline for the 2020/2021 academic year and for several remaining MPP and MIA scholarships is approaching fast. Here’s what you need to know:

Hertie School MPP/MIA scholarships (1 May deadline)

  • International Security Policy Scholarship
Calling all MIA applicants passionate about solving international security challenges: To apply, submit a brief essay answering one of the prompts on the scholarship page.
  • Digital Governance Scholarship
For all MPP and MIA candidates who live and breathe issues related to digitalisation. Apply by submitting a brief essay answering one of the prompts on the scholarship page.
  • Hertie School Fellowship
Are you a stipend holder of one of the 13 German Begabtenförderungswerke scholarship organisations? Good news! Upon admission to the MPP or MIA programme, you will automatically be awarded a 25% tuition waiver. Just remember to upload a copy of your stipend certificate in your application.
  • Scholarship for Public Servants in Brazil
This scholarship is funded by República.org and covers at least 50% of tuition fees for public servants with demonstrated experience leading or managing teams in Brazil. Remember to include your motivation for applying to this scholarship in your general letter of motivation for the Hertie School.

It’s not too late to apply for financial aid, either.

Yes, the priority deadline was 1 February. But fear not – we still award financial aid (partial tuition waivers) to candidates who apply all the way up until 1 May. All you have to do is fill out the “Financial information” section in the online application form to be considered for financial support from the Hertie School. Still unsure about what we mean by financial aid and scholarships? Check out our How-to-apply video.

Keep in mind that the decision on your financial aid offer will arrive separately from your offer of admission. While you’re waiting, we suggest exploring your funding options from external sources to see what’s available for your specific profile.

Executive MPA scholarships follow a different timeline, and you can apply to these by the 1 June priority deadline.
