Recap: Welcome Week 2020

Some moments from the start of the fall 2020 semester

We’ve kicked off the new academic year after a whirlwind of a summer. Read our highlights from Welcome Week.

Last week, after much preparation and anticipation throughout the summer months, we greeted our new Master of International Affairs, Master of Public Policy, second-year dual-degree and semester exchange students with both on-site and online programming. It was very different from Welcome Weeks past, to say the least, but an enjoyable one nonetheless!

New students were split into smaller groups for check-in and coffee, tours of campus and warm notes of welcome from Dean of Graduate Programmes Christine Reh, Managing Director Axel Baisch and Dean of Executive Education Andrea Römmele.

All the while, our Digital Learning experts ensured our students joining remotely for the time being could take part in new student activities via livestream.

Even the Admissions team joined in on the Welcome Week fun as part of the bureaucracy fair, where international students got to ask any and all questions on their minds about the very exciting topic of German bureaucracy. Here’s Lorena at the credential evaluation booth.

In addition to in-person city tours of Berlin, our Student Life team also organised virtual hangouts for our online students, with this year's Welcome Week culminating in a Virtual Semester Opening Party.
