The Hertie School had the pleasure of organising seminars for public officials from: Benin, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Mozambique and South Africa. Participants in these seminars were in Germany for a GIZ- funded programme which focused on Federal Fiscal Relations in Germany. This programme was however preceded by customized seminars at the Hertie School which helped participants to gain unique insights into the Germany’s public administration architecture as well as its political and financial systems.
The multi-dimensional exploration of Germany’s decentralized system and governance mechanisms was welcomed by participants. By deepening their knowledge of the German model, these government officials will be better placed to proffer impactful solutions to public governance challenges in their home countries.
