Taking Digital Governance to the classroom

  • The courses we offer present students with a broad range of tools that are necessary for successfully navigating the challenges that digitalisation poses for governance, as well as for understanding the interplay between government, business and the wider society in governing digitalisation.
     
  • Our curriculum combines academic theory with practical applications in the digital realm, providing you with a deep understanding in policy design and implementation in the realm of digital transformation. We study digital governance with respect to these three areas: digitalisation of government, artificial Intelligence (AI) and the human transformation, and governance of digital services. 
     
  • Our teaching is interdisciplinary, applied and innovative, and our faculty are internationally renowned.
     
  • Alongside our MPP, MIA and MDS courses, we also offer Executive Education programmes, open enrolment workshops and co-host the Digital Week with the Hertie School's Executive Education team.

Featured course: Rise of China

What does China’s rise mean for global politics, international cooperation and the future of democracy? 

In her course “The Rise of China”, Professor Daniela Stockmann guides students through one of the defining geopolitical developments of our time, exploring the political, economic and foreign policy dynamics shaping China’s role in the world today. From US-China relations to digital governance and global cooperation, the course challenges students to move beyond headlines and develop their own informed perspective on one of the most complex questions in international affairs.

Certificate in digital governance

The Centre offers a Certificate in Digital Governance for enrolled MDS, MPP and MIA Hertie School students. The Certificate is awarded to students who devote a meaningful portion of their studies to digital governance-related coursework.
