EMPA alumni reconnect for weekend of inspiration and exchange

Executive master’s grads share ideas for alumni engagement at 2-day lakeside retreat.

Twenty-two alumni of the Hertie School Executive MPA programme gathered May 17-19 for a two-day retreat at Berlin’s Wannsee lake, where they met up with former cohort members and exchanged ideas for staying connected with the school.

The aim was to gather ideas on how help EMPA graduates maintain ties with each other and better integrate them into the school’s alumni work.

The event kicked off Friday evening with a dinner and discussion of current global affairs, followed on Saturday by a welcome get-together with Managing Director Axel Baisch, an info session on digital governance at the Hertie School with Professor of Public and Financial  Management Gerhard Hammerschmid, and workshops on agility in the workplace, and data security and regulation in the digital age.

Gerhard Hammerschmid and Axel Baisch discussed and collected ideas for involving the network of experienced executive alumni more actively in faculty projects, new centres and other Hertie School initiatives.

Participants wrapped up the weekend at a breakfast on Sunday morning, and some even decided to stick around in the afternoon, organising a spontaneous peer-to-peer coaching session among themselves.
