Future of the sharing economy: Symposium on 26 April 2018 at the Hertie School in Berlin

German Federal Ministry of Education and Research project “i-share” presents interim results.

Berlin, 24 April 2018 – How does the sharing economy contribute to Germany’s economy? And what developments in various sectors, using the common idea of sharing resources, are emerging throughout the country and around the world? Researching these questions since 2015, “i-share” is a research collective, which includes the Hertie School and the universities of Mannheim, Göttingen and Augsburg; it is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). I-share researchers will present interim findings in their fourth symposium in Berlin and invite representatives of business, politics and civil society to attend.

On 26 April 2018, experts will gather at the Hertie School in Berlin to discuss the status quo and the future of the sharing economy. The discussion will be chaired by Johanna Mair, Professor for Organization, Strategy and Leadership and i-share project leader at the Hertie School. It will feature a keynote address by Pieter van de Glind, who is the co-founder of ShareNL, a Dutch knowledge and network organisation for the collaborative and sharing economy.

The project “i-share: The sharing economy’s contribution to Germany’s sustainable economy” is one of 30 sustainable management research projects funded by the BMBF, which promote the development of an economy that is ecologically compatible, socially inclusive and competitive. The BMBF provides approximately 31 million euros in social-ecological research as part of its flagship initiative, Research for Sustainable Development (FONA). Further information can be found here (in German).

The i-share symposium, “Status quo and future of the sharing economy,” takes place on 26 April 2018 at 11 am at the Hertie School, Friedrichstraße 180, 10117 Berlin. Registration is open to the public. The full programme and registration form can be accessed here.
