The Guardian - Anke Hassel discusses the German election results

In an op-ed for The Guardian, Anke Hassel explains the generational shift that has come out of the 2021 German election. 

In the 2021 German election, both of the traditionally dominant parties failed to attract signifcant support, each winning less than 26% of the vote. This unprecented result puts the power in the hands of smaller parties, which will be needed to form a governing coalition. 

This represents a generational shift in German politics. Although the new German chancellor will come from one of the old parties, the policies "will be shaped by the young".
