Akira Sasaki has completed the MPP at the Hertie School where he concentrated in policy analysis. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law from Waseda University in Tokyo and also studied International Relations at King’s College London for one year. Akira has extensive professional experience in the field of finance, gained from working at Citibank Japan Ltd for three years. In addition, he did an internship at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GiZ) in Myanmar in the financial sector development department. He is currently working for Lipis Advisors, a consulting firm in Berlin that specialises in payment systems and services. In his thesis, completed in cooperation with this company, he researched how cryptocurrencies and blockchains are changing payment industries. Additionally, he is passionate about combining fintech with development.
