Melissa Berkowitz holds a Bachelor of Arts in History with a focus on cultural conflicts from New York University. She has studied and worked in New York City, Accra, Tel Aviv, Philadelphia and Berlin in the fields of workers’ rights protection, international education, veterans’ care and low-income home care. Before to coming to the Hertie School, she wrote company policy and interpreted state and federal regulations for a Medicaid-funded home care provider. While at the Hertie School, she co-organised the 2017 Bridging Gaps policy conference and worked part-time at enpact e.V. She is particularly interested in the relationship between social policy and economic outcomes.
