Sasha Ockenden holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, where he specialised in French and German. During this time he also won a scholarship to study at the University of Tokyo. He is a trustee of the NGO Doctors for Madagascar and has worked in Madagascar, Tanzania, Germany and the UK. He was awarded the Future of Europe scholarship to study at the Hertie School, where he focused on development and governance. He also worked on refugee and migration policy during his internship in the media team of the Berlin-based NGO Sea-Watch, giving live television interviews in English and German. He was an active member of the Hertie Social Response and published articles in The Governance Post, the Hertie School’s student policy magazine.
