Sonya Ong holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications from the University of Melbourne. At the Hertie School, she studied public policy with a concentration in policy and data analysis, focusing on public communication and development policies. She was selected to participate at the 2018 Global Public Policy Network conference with a policy innovation pitch for responsible consumption and production. In addition, she assists with SEED, a global partnership for sustainable development and the green economy that focuses on small-scale entrepreneurs. Her previous professional experience includes working in media strategy and digital public relations with the agencies Starcom Worldwide, Inc. and Burson-Marsteller in Malaysia. She also holds a Design Thinking Innovation Ambassador Programme certificate from the School of Design Thinking at the Hasso-Plattner Institute.
