Thiago Elert Soares holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina in Brazil, with a concentration in international security, and an exchange semester at the University Paris Nanterre. At the Hertie School, he specialised in quantitative methods and international development policies as a recipient of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Helmut-Schmidt scholarship. His professional experience includes working as a Visiting Fellow for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GiZ) in Kigali in 2017, and as a consultant in Public Policy & Strategy for Barral M Jorge & Associates in Brasilia from 2014 to 2016. Previously, he gained further training in the field of public policy at the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations in Geneva and at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC.
