Charlotte Materne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Maastricht University where she focused on international relations and conflict resolution. During her Master of Public Policy she specialised in foreign and security policy as well as management and organisation. Over the course of her Professional Year Charlotte served as a policy advisor in the Political Department of the German Federal Ministry of Defence. Here she worked at the United Nations (UN) desk where her responsibilities included project management of UN pre-deployment trainings conducted by the German Bundeswehr, as well as helping the minister prepare for international security events. Her professional experience also includes internships at the German-Chilean Chamber of Commerce and in risk management at the Munich Re office in Mexico City.
