Guilherme Cassaro worked as the Head of International Relations for the Brazilian Tree Industry (Ibá) before joining the Hertie School. Ibá is the association that institutionally represents the Brazilian planted forests industry. His main areas of responsibility were: Climate change, forest certification and international trade. At Ibá, Guilherme negotiated the inclusion of planted forests under international carbon trading schemes and represented the industry in negotiations regarding the rules for obtaining eco-friendly certifications such as FSC and PEFC. Guilherme was active in the area of international trade, including trade remedies, trade policy and free trade agreements. At the Hertie School, he studied public policy with a continued focus on the intersection between politics and policy.
