Julian Philippi holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Law from the University of Münster. He spent a year at the University Paris Nanterre and specialised in international and European law. At the Hertie School, Julian honed in on the security-development nexus. In his exchange semester at Georgetown University he focused on the EU-US security relationship. Julian completed a Professional Year with the German development agency GIZ in the peace and security unit supporting the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Furthermore, he has gained professional experience in event management and strategy consulting. Julian volunteered in projects related to access to water in Nicaragua and Hamburg. He has lived and worked in Germany, England, France, Nigeria, and the US.
