Karen Lohse holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Communication Science from the Technische Universität Dresden with a year abroad at Sciences Po Lyon. At the Hertie School and during her semester abroad at the Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington DC, Karen studied international affairs, focusing on the security-development nexus and on governance in areas of limited statehood. Besides interning at the German Federal Foreign Office in the division of strategic communication on migration, her professional experience includes working with the development cooperation consultancy Syspons in Berlin and the conflict-sensitive journalists’ NGO Ejo! Youth Echo in Kigali as well as at the European organisation SOS MEDITERRANEE.
