Laila Heitmann holds a degree in Economics and Psychology (Honours) from the University of Glasgow (first class). During her undergraduate studies, she spent a year at the University of Hong Kong. With the aim of expanding her interdisciplinary background at the Hertie School, she focused on security, inequality, global governance and migration. Laila also spent an exchange semester at Sciences Po Paris. For her Professional Year, Laila worked at the German Federal Ministry for Labour and Social Affairs in the unit for research and innovation. She completed internships at BOSCH and a Hong Kong-based think tank. As part of “Aktion Zukunft”, Laila helps secondary school students to start refugee integration projects in their communities. Laila is a Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes Fellow.
