Vanessa Maurer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Administration and International Relations from Zeppelin University. While doing her bachelor’s degree, she completed three internships where she worked for a Member of Parliament at the German Bundestag in Berlin, at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Washington DC and at the German Federal Foreign Ministry in Berlin in the Department for Disarmament and Arms Control. These experiences catalysed her interest in foreign relations and international security. While at the Hertie School she completed a fourth internship where she worked at the German Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin in the Comprehensive Approach, Science and Society Department. Her professional experience and her studies at the Hertie School, which focused on security and sustainability, deepened her passion for and insights into international security politics.
