Carl-Elimar von Gottberg specialised in finance and trade during his studies in international affairs at the Hertie School, with a semester abroad at Sciences Po Paris. Prior to attending the Hertie School, he graduated with honours with a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies from the University of Passau. During that time, he spent a year abroad in Aix-en-Provence, attending Aix-Marseille University. Prior to his bachelor's degree, he successfully completed a commercial apprenticeship at R+V Allgemeine Versicherung. During his studies in Berlin, he worked in the public sector consulting department at EY. His other professional experience includes internships for Members of the German Bundestag and the European Parliament as well as working for the European Union (EU) Liaison Office at Lufthansa Group.
