Elena Ostanina is currently a political and security risk analyst at IHS Markit, focusing on Russia and the Eastern Partnership countries. At the Hertie School, she studied international affairs with a specialisation in international and nuclear security. Elena is also a scholar of the IAEA Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme. Elena holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and pursued a 12-year career in national and international journalism as a political and economic reporter. She has experience in conducting field research in war-affected areas, such as Ukraine’s Donbas conflict zone.
