John Albert holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Washington, and a Master of Science from Columbia Journalism School, where he graduated in 2014. At the Hertie School, he studied public policy with a focus on political communications and digital governance. During his master's studies, he worked as a Research Assistant for Professors Anke Hassel (on the research project Governing work in the knowledge-based economy) and Daniela Stockmann (on projects relating to platform regulation). His previous professional experience is as a Journalist and Video Producer with McClatchy. John is particularly interested in opportunities in media, communications and tech policy in a European context.
