Joshita Pai holds an integrated Bachelor of Arts and Laws with a major in Political Science from Hidayatullah National Law University in Raipur, India. At the Hertie School, she specialised in policy analysis with R, with coursework in artificial intelligence (AI) governance and platform regulation. Before this, she was a strategic civil liberties lawyer at the Supreme Court of India, working on privacy rights and gender justice. She was also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Communication Governance in New Delhi, where she analysed global data protection regulations and advocated against the unconstitutional use of biometric identification systems. Additionally, she was a Case Law Researcher for the Global Freedom of Expression project at Columbia University. Joshita is interested in opportunities in digital governance and at the intersection of human rights and technology.
