Sandra Schwalen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Global Studies and German. At the Hertie School, she studied international affairs, focusing on security, human rights and gender. During her Professional Year, Sandy interned at Transparency International Germany. While at the Hertie School, she worked part-time as a Student Assistant to Professor Thurid Husted and at the Aspen Institute Germany in the Europe Program. Other professional experience includes internships at the German Marshall Fund of the United States and with United States Congressman Lloyd Doggett (TX-35). After graduation, Sandy hopes to work in the public sector or international organisations, with a particular interest in transatlantic and European diplomacy and human rights.
