Hertie School’s KIOS hosts international workshop for PhD students

A presentation during the workshop.

Young scholars present their research on alternative models for economic organisation.

The Knowledge Initiative on Organisations and Society (KIOS) at the Hertie School hosted a PhD Workshop from 21-22 June. 12 PhD candidates from across Europe and the USA presented on topics including social entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, social innovation, stakeholder empowerment, energy cooperatives and hybrid organisations. KIOS Director, Johanna Mair, was joined by other senior researchers from the Hertie School network who chaired the sessions and provided feedback.

The goal of the workshop, which took place as part of the Hertie School’s project PhD Global, was to give Hertie School students the opportunity to present their research to a broader audience and to promote networking with students from international universities.

In addition to the Hertie School, HEC Paris, Oxford University, Cornell University, Stockholm School of Economics, LUISS School of Government, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Nova School of Business and Economics, TU Dresden and Free University of Berlin were among the institutions represented by the PhD researchers.

The PhD Global project is promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the IPID4all programme.
