The Hertie School of Governance congratulates the latest graduates of the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) programme. Twenty-four graduates received their diplomas at a ceremony 1 September at the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften. Constanze Stelzenmüller (Robert Bosch Senior Fellow, Center on the United States and Europe, Brookings Institution) was the commencement speaker, and the designated student speakers were Ivana Ponjavic and Anton Hufnagl. Further remarks were also given by Hertie School President Helmut K. Anheier and EMPA Programme Director Andrea Römmele.
Congratulations are also in order for the winners of this year’s EMPA thesis poster exhibition.
1st place - Tor Lund-Larsen: Political sleepwalking - the unwinding of regulatory capacity in democracies
2nd place - Angela-Gabrielle Palmer: Tweeting the Brexit
3rd place - Jennifer Keese: How can the preventative approach from the Federal Employment Agency (BA) be adapted to ensure the necessary qualifications to the digital transformation?
Each year, all EMPA graduating students present their final thesis projects in a poster exhibition held just before graduation. The winners are selected by a committee. The 2017 winners were selected by Andrea Römmele (Hertie School), Anne von Fallois (Kienbaum Consultants International) and Nigel Kinnarney (EMPA Alumnus; German Federal Ministry of Finance).
