Ambassador Series: Hungary

The Hertie International Relations Club is proud to present the Ambassador Series with His Excellency Dr. Péter Györkös, Ambassador of Hungary to Germany. This event is open to the Hertie Community only.

His Excellency Dr. Péter Györkös has been the Ambassador of Hungary to the Federal Republic of Germany since November 2015. From 2010 - 2015, he was Head of the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the European Union (including the time of the Hungarian EU Presidency in 2011). Previously, Dr. Györkös was ambassador to Hungary in Zagreb, Croatia (2007 - 2009), Head of Unit Europe in the Office for EU Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Office (2004 - 2006) and held various positions in the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was responsible for accompanying the processes for the accession of Hungary to the EU. Dr. Györkös taught at the College of Europe and the EULE University Budapest. He completed his studies in International Relations at the Moscow State University and received his doctorate from the University for Economics in Budapest. In his dissertation he analyzed the plans for the reunification of Germany, a matter in which he later was involved in.

This initiative led by the International Relations Club gives Hertie School students the opportunity to engage in an informative dialogue with top level diplomats from diverse countries in an expressly informal setting - without the rigidity created by the presence of media representatives and other third parties. It poses a unique opportunity for students of public policy to gain first-hand experience of the diplomatic profession. This event is part of the 2018-19 edition of the Ambassador Series at the Hertie School.

We look forward to seeing you in the Forum! Refreshments will be provided at the end of the talk.
