Freedom of Science, Diversity, and Public Health

Scientific freedom is facing increasing pressure as democratic values are challenged and public investment in research is curtailed. This joint event of the Hertie School and the Einstein Center Population Diversity explores the consequences of restricting academic inquiry — particularly in public health, gender, and diversity studies — and highlights the importance of defending open, inclusive, and well-funded research environments. To discuss these urgent issues, the event will feature a podium discussion with:

  • Seth Holmes (University of California, Berkeley)
  • Beate Kampmann (Charité Berlin)
  • Christina Pagel (University College London)
  • Martin Rennert (Einstein Foundation Berlin)
  • Cornelia Woll (Hertie School)
