The opening ceremony included the award ceremony for the 2013 graduates of the Executive Master of Public Management (EMPM) and a welcome to our incoming students. With a keynote by Lisa Anderson (President of the American University in Cairo) on Risk and reward: What the Arab uprisings tell us about public service in the 21st century and remarks by Hertie School President Helmut K. Anheier, EMPM Programme Director Gerhard Hammerschmid, and the elected student speaker Julia Stamm.
