The challenges and opportunities for human-centered AI

As part of the ACAI School of 2021 on Human-Centered AI, organised from 11-14 October 2021 in Berlin and supported by the Hertie School Data Science Lab, there will be a special keynotes and panel discussion from two prominent computer scientists in the fields of AI and Human-Computer interaction:

Yoshua Bengio is recognized worldwide as one of the leading experts in artificial intelligence. Most known for his pioneering work in deep learning, he earnt the 2018 A.M. Turing Award, “the Nobel Prize of Computing,” together with Geoffrey Hinton and Yann LeCun.

Ben Shneiderman is Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Founding Director of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory at the University of Maryland. His pioneering contributions to the world includes the direct manipulation concept, clickable web-link, touchscreen keyboards that we all know and enjoy today.
