The European Public Policy Conference (EPPC) 2019

The European Public Policy conference is student-run initiative of the Hertie School and the IPLI Foundation. The 11th annual EPPC, titled “Syncing societies: Exploring the intersections of tech and policy,” will be a platform for public policy makers, visionary graduate students and young professionals to challenge existing concepts and propose innovative solutions.

The European Public Policy conference of 2019 seeks to understand the double edged sword, that is technology. The fact that it is so ubiquitous, makes it futile to fight it. We must rather work towards coexisting with technology and that can be done best, by understanding areas where there is an intersection between technology and society.

Addressing this problem by focusing on three areas, the EPPC hopes to spark a discussion on these issues and discuss the problems that may arise and the solutions needed, to combat the intersection of tech and society.

The three day event will begin with a keynote address on Friday, followed by additional presentations, panels and discussions between panelists and attendees on the Saturday and Sunday. Through these discussions, we believe that even solutions to problems that were not on the agenda will come forth, making the event an excellent opportunity for tech and policy enthusiasts alike.

We would like you to join us, and most of all: We actively encourage you, with your innovative ideas, to help us discover the opportunities that the intersects of tech and policy hold.

The conference will be broken down into three conceptual areas:
- Social Inequalities: Tech- disrupting or reinforcing inequalities?
- Smart Cities v Gentrification: Who has a right to the city?
- Policy & Government: Is the rise of tech changing the state as we know it?
