A strategic agenda for the European Union – where do we want to stand in 2029?

The new European Commission is taking office in turbulent times, in which long-term strategic considerations are often overtaken by short-term events. Against the background of a rapidly evolving geopolitical and economic environment, we want to take a longer-term perspective on the next legislative term of the European Union. Now is the time to reflect on where we want to stand in 2029: which priorities should the EU set in the next five years and how can it achieve them?

We are looking forward to this online discussion with:

Tiago Antunes, Senior Fellow of the Florence School of Transnational Governance
Nadia Pantel, Europe Correspondent at DER SPIEGEL
Joseph de Weck, Senior Fellow at the Institut Montaigne
Lucas Guttenberg, Senior Advisor at Bertelsmann Stiftung
Moderation: Thu Nguyen, Deputy Director at the Jacques Delors Centre

The panelists will personally participate in the Pariser Platz Dialogue prior to the panel, where decision-makers from Germany, France and other European countries will come together for two days to exchange views on these topics under Chatham House rules. They will share their insights from theclosed event in the discussion. We cordially invite you to this virtual round and look forward to your questions.

The discussion will be held in English and simultaneously interpreted into German and French.
