They are poised to remain among the mo st polarising and policy-relevant topics in the coming decades. However\, the debates and controversies surrounding migration and integration are no t always supported by sound empirical analyses. In this context\, the Hert ie School would like to provide an interdisciplinary platform for young sc holars to share and discuss their research.\nAbstracts of papers focusing on – but not limited to – the following topics are welcome:\nThe analysis of international migration flows\, including forced migrationMigration pol icies and migration flowsThe integration of immigrants into their host cou ntries\, in its various dimensions (e.g.\, economic\, social\, political)F amily behaviour of immigrantsThe societal and economic integration of the descendants of migrantsPolitical\, social and demographic effects of migra tion on host societies\nThe aim of the workshop is for PhD students to pre sent their work in an encouraging and relaxed peer environment. We are ope n to different theoretical and methodological approaches.\nIn addition we will have a keynote speech from Prof. Dr. Herbert Brücker\, director of th e BIM.\nWorkshop format: Participants will present their work in progress in one of the sessions. Fellow PhD stu-dents and senior scholars from the Hertie School and partner universities will be present to discuss the pape rs.\nSubmissions: Please apply by submitting an abstract (max. 300 words) and a CV by 30 April 2018. Applicants will receive a response by 15 May. A ccepted applicants are expected to send an extended version (10 pages) 1-2 weeks before the workshop.
