EMPA alumni from around the globe reunite at 2015 retreat

From 5-7 June, the Executive Alumni Retreat 2015 (the fourth of its kind) took place at scenic Lychensee in Brandenburg.

Alumni travelled to the retreat from as far as Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Kenya, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK and from all over Germany to reunite with their former Executive MPA classmates.

This year’s retreat focused on behavioural economics (nudges) as a tool for effective governance and saw inspiring presentations from the UK government as well as the European Commission. It was complemented by a review of the “Open Government” measures in the state of North-Rhine Westphalia, which had been discussed in detail at the previous year’s retreat.

The alumni also had the opportunity to share their professional experiences and to exchange with Hertie School faculty. Of course, there was plenty of time for more informal discussions, joint lunches and dinners. Other highlights were a boat race and a challenging quiz organised by the Executive MPA Alumni Council and the gathering at the bonfire at night.
