From 5-7 June, the 4th Executive Alumni Retreat took place at scenic Lychensee in Brandenburg, about an hour north of Berlin.
Alumni travelled to the retreat from as far as Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Kenya, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK and from all over Germany to reunite with their former Executive MPA classmates.
This year’s retreat focused on behavioural economics (nudges) as a tool for effective governance and saw inspiring presentations from the UK government as well as the European Commission. It was complemented by a review of the “Open Government” measures in the state of North-Rhine Westphalia, which had been discussed in detail at last year’s retreat.
The alumni also had the opportunity to share their professional experiences and to exchange with Hertie School faculty. Of course, there was plenty of time for more informal discussions, joint lunches and dinners. Other highlights were a boat race and a challenging quiz organised by the Executive MPA Alumni Council and the gathering at the bonfire at night.
