The Centre for International Security cordially invites you to take part in the second edition of its new virtual discussion series #StayIn #ThinkOut: International Security in Times of COVID-19. Hannah Neumann, Member of the European Parliament, and Nicole Koenig, Deputy Director at the Jacques Delors Centre, will talk about “Covid-19 and European Foreign and Security Policy”.

Speakers

Hannah Neumann holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies and has been a member of the European Parliament since 2019. As MEP, Hannah’s focus remains on the topics close to her heart: She is spokeswoman for human rights and security and defense policy for the Greens/EFA Group, heads the Delegation for relations with the Arab Peninsula and is a vice-chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights. Hannah also sits on the Foreign Affairs and Security and Defence committees.

Nicole Koenig is Deputy Director of the Jacques Delors Centre. Her areas of expertise include EU foreign and security policy, institutional questions, and migration policy. Prior to joining the Jacques Delors Centre, she worked for the Trans European Policy Studies Association in Brussels, the Istituto Affari Internazionali in Rome, and the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam, among others. Nicole holds a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the Universities of Cologne and Edinburgh (co-tutelle). She holds a Master’s degree in Politics and Management from the University of Constance and one in EU International Relations and Diplomacy from the College of Europe in Bruges.

Chair

Tobias Bunde is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for International Security at the Hertie School. He is a political scientist with a research focus on the foreign and security policies of liberal democracies, especially Germany and the United States. He also serves as Head of Policy and Analysis at the Munich Security Conference. He studied international relations at various institutions in Germany, France, and the United States and wrote his PhD dissertation at Freie Universität Berlin.

This interactive series will give participants the opportunity to discuss with leading researchers, policy-makers, and civil society representatives critical questions related to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on international security issues.
