Call for applications – Two PhD Scholarships in Fundamental Rights at the Hertie School

Two Three-year scholarships to pursue a full-time PhD in the field of Fundamental Rights starting from September 2021.

The Hertie School is offering two three-year scholarship for exceptional candidates to pursue a full-time PhD in the field of Fundamental Rights starting from September 2021. The successful candidates will be part of the Centre for Fundamental Rights team at the Hertie School.

We invite PhD candidates with exceptionally strong academic track records at undergraduate and master’s level (or equivalent) in human rights or related fields, particularly with academic backgrounds in law, politics or related disciplines, with strong demonstrated interest in research of  human rights theories, law and  institutions. 

Research proposals should focus on contemporary and emerging challenges to the protection of fundamental rights in domestic, regional and/or global governance. We welcome proposals that address the efficacy of human rights institutions at all levels.  Candidates will be supervised by Professor Başak Çalı and/or Professor Cathryn Costello, proposals should address either or both of their areas of expertise.
