Trajectory plot
The 2018 Governance Report's trajectory plots trace for a selected country how key economic indicators actually developed and how its population perceived or reacted to the circumstances from 2007 to 2017 (depending on data availability). The x-axes show either the rate of unemployment or perceptions of the local job market as unfavorable; the y-axes either a country’s debt-to-GDP ratio or the population’s lack of confidence in national government. The size of the bubbles reflects either GDP per capita growth (solid is negative) or the population’s belief that the standard of living is improving.
