Funding your studies

We are committed to attracting the best students from around the world. To achieve this goal, the Hertie School awards financial aid and partners with a variety of organisations to offer the following options to fund your studies: full scholarships, partial scholarships and external funding.
 

Full scholarships are one way we support students in financing their studies – they cover 100% of the tuition fees. These scholarships are targeted towards applicants with specific profiles or interest in the development of specific regions or academic fields. We base our decision on the academic excellence, personal suitability, motivation and financial need of the candidates.  These scholarships do not cover living expenses.

Partial scholarships and Tuition waivers refer to reductions to the tuition fees of the master programme. Reductions reach between 10% and 50% of the tuition fees and can be awarded to applicants of all nationalities. Financial aid is allocated based on the need of each individual applicant, regardless of nationality or ethnicity - click here to learn more. 

You must complete the Financial Information section on our online application form and declare your financial circumstances. In the Scholarship section, select that you wish to apply for financial support by the Hertie School and which scholarship you are interested in applying for. No additional documents are required at this stage.

Applicants in need of financial assistance are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline, but scholarships are allocated on a rolling basis, until the final application deadline.

Apart from scholarships, there are a number of financing possibilities outside of the Hertie School including private and public foundations, banks and other national or international institutions. External funding options vary according to applicant’s country of origin. 

Please keep in mind that the majority of financial aid by the Hertie School is offered in the form of partial scholarships. We therefore encourage students to reach out to us to find out more about additional sources of funding. Learn more about the options that best apply to you:
