Consultancies seek to recruit Hertie School graduates

Annual fair is a chance for Hertie School students and consulting professionals to engage.

The Hertie School held its annual consulting fair on 15 February, as part of its career development services for students. Students could meet and ask questions of private- and public-sector consultants, who presented their firms and work. Alumni working at around a dozen firms in Germany provided insights on career possibilities for students in the Master of Public Policy and Master of International Affairs programmes.

Aside from degrees in public administration or political science, firms are looking for people with an interdisciplinary perspective and the ability to analyse public policy, those who bring experience in project management and public administration standards, and who have an understanding of public value and public-sector processes.

Hertie School students are well-equipped for many of the skills consulting firms are seeking, and alumni work at both boutique and big management consultancies, helping to solve complex problems in the public sector.
