Cathryn Costello comments on human rights situation at Polish-Belarusian border

In the Washington Post, the Co-Director of the Centre for Fundamental Rights says Polish actions are against EU law.

Polish pushbacks of migrants trying to enter the country at the Belarusian border, are “absolutely not compatible with EU or international law,” said Cathryn Costello, Professor of Fundamental Rights and Co-Director of the Centre for Fundamental Rights in the Washington Post on 13 Nov.  In reaction to increasing numbers of new arrivals, the Polish government on Thursday passed a law that allows Polish forces to send people back to Belarus. “Reframing the arrivals in different terms doesn’t change the fact that they are individuals who seem to be seeking protection,” Costello said.
